Frequently Asked
Questions

Q. Why are your services so reasonably priced?

A. I believe that web design should be affordable to enterprising businesses. This is why I have special rates for small businesses and day care providers.

Q. How long will it take to complete my website?

A. This depends on how many pages you would like for your site to consist of. A Basic three page site generally takes 2 to 4 days, and a 10 to 14 page site approximately 2 weeks. A written estimate will be provided to you for cost and time to complete your site. Your site will be uploaded to your space as it progresses. Web sites don’t have to be completed to be on the internet, they are always a work in progress!

Q. What is a Home page?

A. A home page is the main entrance page that visitors first see when they type in your domain name (your web address). The home page is to be kept shorter than the other pages, so that the visitor is not kept waiting too long for your site to open.

Q. How long (in length) will each web page that you design be?

A. I get asked this often, so here is the basic outline:

~The home page should be no more than 3- 8 1/2 x 11 pieces of paper long...this is so the first page can load very quickly.

~All other pages will be no longer than 5- 8 1/2 x 11 pieces of paper long.  This is a guideline that I have set that other webmasters use to limit the length of pages.

~There will be additional charge for a page that is longer than 5 pages.

TIP: Remember the shorter the page the faster it will load.

Q. How many photos can I add to a page?

A. The least amount of photos the better, and the smaller the photos the better.  This is because the larger the photo, the slower you page will load. I recommend no more than 5 per page, and there is an additional charge for more.

Q. Can I have sound on my web site?

A. Yes you can! If you supply me with the midi or music  file or tell me which one you would like.  There may be copyrights that I need to follow.  I do not recommend sound because it will slow your pages down drastically when loading on the net.  You will also need to be sure that sound files are your original music or written permission is given to LCWebworks to add music or sound.

Q. Why does it matter how fast or slow my web site loads on the internet?

A. Because if your page is too long, has too many photos, graphics or sound files, then your pages will load much slower. We don’t want this to happen because visitors to your site will not want to wait a long time for your pages to open.  This is an important courtesy to your visitors so they will keep coming back :o)

Q. How large can graphic files be?

A. Graphics and photos should be under 100 Kb.  If they are larger than this, then your page will take much longer to load. Under 50 Kbs for each graphic is highly recommended.

Q. What is a Gif, Png and a Jpeg?

A. A .gif or Gif is a file type that a graphic or drawing is saved as, so that it is compatible on your website.  A Png or .png file is a very large graphic or art file that can be resized as needed and keep it’s quality in tact.  Large graphics used on Tshirts, posters, etc. are recommended to use .png files only.  Png files are not used on websites as they are too large.  A Jpeg or .jpg is always a photo that is compatible on the internet. All photos and graphics that I use will either be a .gif or a .jpg.

Q. How much web space will I need?

A. Web hosting companies offer many rages of web space for their customers. Some as much as 100 MB. Most free web hosting companies give about 12 to 50 Mb of web space to use for your site.  This should be plenty unless you have over 100 pages, video or music files on your web site.  How much web space you will need also depends on how many photos and graphics you have on your site. Unless you are a very large company, I don’t see the need to pay for over 50 Mb.

You may order custom made graphics for your site from Blue Moon Graphics or Copperrr’s Creations. For business sites you also have the option of using Site Styles ® by Fusion or you may provide your own to LC Webworks.

Q. What does E. & O. E. mean?

A. E. & O. E. is an initialism standing for errors and omissions excepted. The phrase is used in an attempt to reduce legal liability for incorrect or incomplete information supplied in a contractually related document such as a price list, quotation or specification. It is often applied as a disclaimer in situations in which the information to which it is applied is relatively fast moving. In legal terms, it seeks to make a statement that information cannot be relied upon, or may have changed by the time of use.  [Wikapeidia.com]
